Lente in een jasje

Lente! Al betekent dat in België niet meteen dat het mooi weer is, of warm. Dat vraagt om een (bij voorkeur waterdichte) jas en al helemaal als je, zoals ik, quasi dagelijks op de fiets zit.

Ik had al een superleuke stof gezien bij Toverstof, maar had nog niet meteen een patroon in gedachten.

Spring! Although in Belgium that doesn't necessarily mean the weather is that great, or warm.  I needed a new (preferably rain) coat, especially because I ride my bike almost daily.

I had already seen a lovely fabric at Toverstof, but didn't have a pattern in my mind yet.

En plots was het daar in mijn mailbox en op instagram, de Eden Coat van Tilly and the Buttons. 

De Eden Coat is een geweldig tof patroon met 2 uitvoeringen. Een leuk model regenjas met stormflappen en een duffel (of houtje-touwtje jas). 

And suddenly it popped up in my mailbox and on instagram, the Eden Coat from Tilly and the Buttons. The Eden Coat is an awesome pattern with 2 variations. One is a nice rain coat with storm flaps, the other a lovely duffel coat.

Ik koos voor het eerste model, wat een beetje korter is en perfect past bij de stof die ik koos.

De stof is een softshell met bloemetjes op van Toverstof. 

I chose the first variation, which is a bit shorter and fits the soft-shell fabric I wanted to use perfectly.

Voor de voering nam ik een geel-wit-gestreepte tricot die ik een tijdje geleden al kocht bij De Stoffenkamer. De drukknopen en de gouden rits komen ook van bij Toverstof.
For the lining I used a white and yellow striped knit I already bought at De Stoffenkamer a while ago. The golden zipper and the snap buttons come from Toverstof as well.

Er zijn een paar heel leuke details aan de Eden Coat, waaronder de stormflappen, de drukknopen en de omgedraaide mouwboorden. Die laatste zijn optioneel, maar ik vond het bij deze jas wel passen.
The Eden Coat has a few nice details, like the storm flaps, the snaps and the folded cuffs. The cuffs are optional, but I really like the effect with this coat.

De jas mocht trouwens meteen mee op weekend aan zee. Dat leverde gekke foto's op, waarbij blote voeten in het zand en een lekker zachte, warm aanvoelende regenjas gecombineerd werden.
The jacket could go with me on a trip at the seaside. It made some funny pictures, combining bare feet in the sand with a soft and warm soft-shell jacket. 

Het is geen project om in een uurtje in elkaar te flansen, maar de goed geschreven handleiding zorgt er wel voor dat het ook voor iets minder ervaren naaisters haalbaar is om een jas in elkaar te steken. Dit is mijn eerste Eden Coat, maar zeker niet mijn laatste!
It's not a project to start and finish in an hour, but because of the useful booklet it is doable for less experienced sewists to make a jacket or coat. This is my first Eden Coat, but definitely won't be my last!
